Ian is an aspiring reporter who has covered Congress, elections, drug trafficking and the like.

This summer, he will be heading to the West Coast to intern at The Oregonian.

He formerly was the Editor-In-Chief of The State News at Michigan State University, where he spent all of his time overseeing a staff of 42 budding journalists, assembling a daily newspaper and, of course, keeping the website fresh with content. His transcript reflects this.

In 2013, Ian worked on the Columbus Dispatch's public affairs desk, where he completed a long-form investigative package exploring the connection between prescription pills and a deadly wave of heroin overdoses sweeping the state.

Before that, he was an intern at the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire in Washington, where he covered the 113th Congress, military affairs and a variety of other issues in our nation's capital.

His work has been featured by MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show and the Columbia Journalism Review.

In 2012, he led a team of reporters to the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., where he wrote about the Michigan delegation.

When he's not doing journalism, Ian enjoys concert-going, backpacking and tearing up mountain peaks on his snowboard.
